Today, we’re stepping away from Telegram Mini Apps and embracing Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) to take our games — and our vision — to the next level. Here’s why and where we’re headed.
Telegram’s New Rules
Telegram’s Mini Apps were a game-changer for us — fast to build, easy to share, and tied to a massive audience. We launched there with gusto, plugging into the rich Mini App ecosystem for our early projects. However, in January 2025, Telegram laid out a new rule: all Mini Apps must now run exclusively on The Open Network (TON), using Toncoin for transactions and TON Connect for integration. That became the line in the sand.
For some, that’s a smooth pivot. For us? Not so much. We’d built with flexibility in mind, exploring multiple blockchains to keep our options open. The TON-only mandate meant rethinking everything on a tight timeline, and while Telegram’s ecosystem has its strengths, we saw a different path — one that lets us stay true to our goals without being tied to a single chain. So, we’re packing up our candy stash and moving to PWAs.
Leveling Up
This isn’t an exit — it’s an upgrade. We’re turning ZKcandy into a go-to hub for Web3 mobile gaming, and PWAs are our rocket fuel. Mobile gaming is massive — projected to hit $126.1 billion in revenue by 2025, with 2.4 billion players by 2029.
